VBODA Marching Band State Assessment and Freedom Showcase competition double header.
The 2022 VBODA Marching Band State Assessment is Saturday, October 22nd, 2022. This event will take place at Patriot High School (10504 Kettle Run Rd, Nokesville, VA). Immediately following the assessment, the band will relocate to Freedom High School (25450 Riding Center Dr, Chantilly, VA) to compete at the Freedom Showcase. VBODA state assessment performance time is scheduled for 12:45 PM and the Freedom Showcase performance time is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
MARCHING CAVALIER ITINERARY
- 8:00 AM – Rehearsal
- 8:45 AM – Rehearsal ends; pack, load, get dressed in uniform
- 9:45 AM – Depart WTW
- 10:45 AM – Arrive Patriot HS; unload, RR, assemble props
- 11:30 AM – Warm Up
- 12:30 PM – Gate Time
- 12:45 PM – Performance Time (VBODA Assessment – Ratings called immediately following)
- 12:45 PM – Load buses, Change out of uniform
- 1:30 PM – Depart for Fair Oaks
- 2:15 PM – Approximate arrival time at Fair Oaks Mall (students must stay in groups of at least 4 at all times while at Fair Oaks and are not permitted to leave the mall, except to go to the bus approaching changing time. We will change back into uniforms before departing.)
- 4:35 PM – Change back into uniform
- 4:50 PM – Depart Fair Oaks for Freedom HS
- 5:30 PM – Arrive at Freedom HS, unload, RR, assemble props
- 6:25 PM – Warm Up (Area 2)
- 6:55 PM – Warm Up ends, move to field
- 7:05 PM – Gate Time
- 7:15 PM – Performance Time (Freedom Showcase)
- 9:45 pm – Awards group 5 & 6
- 10:00 PM – Load busses, Depart
- 10:40 PM – Arrive WTW, unload, clean room, dismiss
Notes
- Bring food (or money for food court at the mall) for lunch.
- Uniform – Be sure to have black shoes, black socks (with no color on the heels!), white T-shirt. No jewelry or nail polish.
- Bring good instruments unless it is raining.
- Bring extra reeds, mouthpiece caps and tuners.
- Students must ride the bus to and from the event. If there is an extenuating circumstance, it must be in writing and approved by the director.
