Spring Trip to New York City 2024

The Woodson Bands Spring Trip will be to New York City from April 11 – April 13, 2024.
Commitment form and first Payment ($275) is due DEC 1! Students should also complete the Broadway Show choices google form by this date as well.

  • January 15 – Payment 2 ($250) Rooming Requests and Permission forms due 
  • March 1 – Payment 3 (not to exceed $225) 

FINAL Itinerary:

WEDNESDAY APRIL 10 (LUGGAGE CHECK IN)

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Luggage Check In & Tagging (all students)
Enter thru Band Room Door and exit out to hallway out any other door vice band room
Meds must be dropped off by a parent!

 THURSDAY APRIL 11 (Even Day)

7:30 AM-Arrival at Band Room 
8:10 AM -All students report to auditorium
8:45 AM – Load busses/depart Woodson 
Lunch Enroute – Maryland/Delaware House for quick restroom break/brown bag, early lunch 
2:45 PM-Arrival in Manhattan 
Enjoy Times Square, free time for shopping/exploring in chaperoned groups 
4:30 PM-Dinner (included) in the Theatre District. Ellen’s Stardust Café (1650 Broadway @ 51st St.)
6-6:30 PM-Groups walk to designated theaters
7:00-9:30 PM (Estimate)–Evening Broadway show (students fill out preference form by December 1) 10:00 PM-buses to pick up on 8th Avenue as close to 46th as possible
RETURN LATE TO HOTEL, Hilton Meadowlands, students retrieve luggage and report directly to rooms 
11:00 PM-Security Guard on duty throughout the night 

FRIDAY APRIL 12 (ODD DAY) 

AMERICAN BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL – second floor of the hotel
TODAY IS CLINIC/WORKSHOP/PERFORMANCE DAY 
LUNCH ON OWN – location dependent on clinic/workshop locations 

8:45 AM – LOAD ALL BUSES AND DEPART FOR DOWNTOWN 
10:50 AM – Designated group meet at museum entrance
11:00 AM – Group entrance to 9/11 memorial museum
QUICK/TO-GO LUNCH ON OWN IN AREA – Oculus/food trucks/Brookfield Place
1:45PM MEET/LOAD BUSES (same place as drop off)
1:50PM (SHARP or earlier!) DEPART FOR OPEN JAR STUDIOS
2:30-5;00 PM Band Workshop
5:00 PM LOAD BUSES AND DEPART BACK DOWNTOWN
DINNER DOWNTOWN (Students given $20 on site to assist with food)

               Brookfield Place/Food trucks/Oculus/nearby restaurants

6:45PM ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY ENTRANCE

IF DESIRED, MORE TIME TO WALK THE MEMORIAL GROUNDS/NEARBY AREAS

TBD PM BOARD BUSES (same place as dropped off) AND DEPART FOR HOTEL

SECURITY GUARD ON DUTY 11pm-4am

   

SATURDAY APRIL 13 

BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL – second floor of the hotel  / CHECK OUT OF HOTEL 

8:30 AM – DEPART FOR ROCKEFELLER PLAZA 

(possible quick walk up to Strawberry Fields/Bethesda Fountain; pick up would be on Central Park West @ 72nd St.)
9:30 AM-2:00 PM TOUR RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL BACKSTAGE 

(groups to meet at corner of 50th St. and 6th Avenue :15 prior) 

Groups of 33 every 15 minutes 

ROCKEFELLER CENTER, ST. PATRICK’S, FIFTH AVENUE, SHOPPING, ETC… 

LUNCH ON OWN IN AREA 

3:45 PM – Load Busses
DEPART AT 4:00 PM 

REST STOP/DINNER ENROUTE – Delaware House 

APPROXIMATE ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL-9:30 PM
